Ward Clerk - Littondale Ward

Job overview

Are you organised, proactive and thrive when working in a team? If so, this role is for you! We are looking for a hard working individual to join our team on Littondale Ward in the role of Ward Clerk.

Littondale Ward is the Trust's male surgical ward which cares for patients who have sustained are acutely unwell, some of which requiring surgery.

The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise your own workload which can vary regularly throughout a busy day. 

We are willing to hear from anyone who has administration skills, is happy and able to work primarily on a computer and can display our Trust values in their day to day work.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Ward Clerk is extremely varied. Some of the key tasks include:

  • Being the first point of contact for patients, relatives and staff both face to face and on the telephone.
  • Maintaining patients case notes to an excellent standard.
  • Supporting the clinical teams with admin duties to allow them to provide hands on patients care.
  • Updating and maintaining electronic inpatient records.
  • Booking follow up appointments for patients after discharge.
  • Be able to provide an efficient and effective administration service to the entire ward.

Essential criteria
  • 3 GCSE's or equivalent
  • Experience with IT including Microsoft Office
Desirable criteria
  • Experience with NHS Computer Programmes

  • Previous Customer Service Experience / Liaising with Service Users
