Job overview

Wellbeing Suffolk provide high Intensity interventions to adults with a range of Mental Health Disorders.  This is an opportunity for a trainee Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Therapist position. The successful applicant will undertake the Post Graduate Diploma in High Intensity CBT at the University of East Anglia. Training takes place over one academic year and involves spending two days per week at university and the remainder of the week in practice at your workplace, (please see qualification criteria below).

 

This post will provide high intensity interventions to adults with a range of anxiety disorders, depression and trauma related problems. This is an opportunity to join an established team of Psychological Therapists providing a range of NICE compliant treatments. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, consisting of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Primary Care Counsellors, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners and Employment Advisors.

 

Therapists will be expected to offer brief time-limited therapy within a team of other CBT therapists and are expected to spend 55% of their time providing treatment interventions to clients.  The Wellbeing Service has a number of Key Performance Indicators (targets) and clinicians are supported to achieve these. Treatment takes place both online via video calls, as well as in person, in venues across the county.  You will also take part in facilitating group session / webinars. Full clinical supervision is provided within the service.

Main duties of the job

 

The post-holder will work to provide formal psychological interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. This intensive training post will equip the post–holder to provide a CBT service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. Such therapy will be provided within a structured setting, working within a National Talking Therapies framework and service commissioned parameters.

 

 

This post will be spilt between two bases: Hospital Road and also Mariner House.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 Those qualified as a PWP should have a minimum of two years post qualification and any candidate who began an NHS funded psychological profession training programme on or after 1st April 2022 should have a minimum of two years post qualification - see https://www.hee.nhs.uk/our-work/mental-health/psychological-professions/funding-psychological-professions-training-programmes for further details.

This appointment is a band 6 conditional upon your undertaking and completing the required training course within the required timescale for that course. Upon gaining the qualification and accreditation, you will be upgraded to a Band 7 CBT Therapist from the date of your accreditation.

 

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted via email to arrange your interview, these will be held throughout December 2024.  Interviews will be conducted in 2 Parts with the first interview being the week commencing the 9th December. Second Interview will take place with the University between the 17th – 19th December.

Essential criteria
  • • A core mental health practitioner qualification or KSA route • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent overseas qualification). Other academic qualifications of an equivalent standard can be taken into account • Post qualification experience of working with people with serious mental health problems

Experience

  • Significant experience of working in mental health services • Ability to manage own caseload and time
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
