Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.

At any one time, around 23,000 people in Norfolk and Suffolk are receiving care and attention from the Trust. Nearly 3,800 full and part-time practitioners care for our service users in hospitals, in the community and in their own homes, whilst an additional 1,400+ staff provide non-clinical support, including cleaning, catering, delivering supplies, ward administration, information technology, human resources and financial services.

We are delighted to be recruiting an Assistant Practitioner to join our Eating Disorders Intensive Day Treatment Team (EDITT). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative service which is regionally leading the way in Eating Disorders day treatment and due to its success is looking to expand what they offer. The service offers intensive day treatment for young people who require additional therapeutic support to manage their Eating Disorder.

This role is about building relationships, inspiring others, and working as part of a vibrant and skilled team to support recovery for those who access our service. The team pride themselves on working in collaboration with families therefore any experience of enthusiasm to working with young people and their parents/carers would support the successful candidate in this role. The role will include some weekend and evening working.

If you have an interest in specialist mental health services and a desire to help young people and families to thrive, then you may be the right person for our team.

We are looking to recruit a motivated assistant practitioner to be part of our multi-disciplinary team who can provide practical, emotional and therapeutic support to young people. Your main duties will involve developing a trusting therapeutic relationship with young people, helping them to build skills and therapeutic knowledge both on a 1:1 and in a group scenario, provide meal support, and support parents/carers alongside other members of the team.

Whilst experience working with young people would make you perfectly suited to this role, we are open to welcoming people from clinical backgrounds who have experience in other areas of mental health. We understand that you will be able to bring with you a wealth of skills and experience to the team and would welcome fresh ways of thinking.

Staff well-being is integral part of our service line and there are lots of opportunities for CPD development, specialist training and supervision, support from experienced colleagues and to be involved in the development of a service that wants to make a difference to people’s lives.
