We are seeking a dedicated Community Team Manager (CTM) to join our Intensive Older Persons Service (IOPS) on a 6-month secondment. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational management and clinical/managerial supervision of our professional staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and responsive services to our service users, their families, and carers. 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Suitably qualified/registered Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health through substantial clinical and leadership experience, particularly within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience in leading service development and assessing risk.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills. 

Main duties of the job

  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IOPS team, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources to meet the needs of service users and carers.
  • Clinical/Managerial Supervision: Provide supervision to professional staff in line with trust values, ensuring compliance with Statutory and Regulatory requirements and Trust Policies.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure a high standard of care is maintained by adhering to standard operating procedures, protocols, and pathways.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate work within the team to optimize resource utilization and service delivery.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the team’s performance and contribution to the Trust’s overall objectives.
  • Professional Governance: Provide strong leadership and governance within your area of responsibility, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Management Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee a range of aspects of service delivery within the team, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and Trust policies.
  • Line Management: Manage identified staff within the team, including continuing professional development (CPD), performance management, staff appraisals, and HR issues.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Proactively recruit new staff and maintain delegated staff wellbeing and retention.
  • Budget Management: Effectively manage the delegated aspects of the team budget.
  • Pathway Development: Lead the development of effective mental health care pathways within the team.
  • Service Evaluation: Lead and support service evaluation and audit systems.
  • Policy Development: Review and develop service-wide policies and protocols.
  • Partnerships: Support the establishment of partnerships and networks with key stakeholders.
  • Deputy Responsibilities: Deputise for the Service Manager as required.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Accountability: Be accountable for your own professional actions.
  • Workload Management: Effectively plan and organize your daily workload.
  • Flexibility: Work flexibly and manage your working time according to service demands.
  • Autonomous Practice: Make clinical judgments and identify alternative courses of action.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Nursing degree or equivalent, Dip SW or Dip OT or equivalent, or HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Ongoing professional development working towards degree level
  • Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice
  • Post basic teaching qualification
  • ILM certificate in management or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate experience at a senior clinical level including staff management/supervisi on experience
  • Experience of working within a multi disciplinary team
  • Evidence of providing leadership in a Mental Health care environment including service development.
  • Experience with risk assessment and ongoing management
  • Mentoring Experience
