NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist role to work within our Orthopaedic Paediatric Physiotherapy Service with the Orthopaedic Consultants working alongside the 8A Clinical Specialist already in post.

This post requires you to be an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the management of paediatric orthopaedic/ musculoskeletal and ortho-neurological conditions within the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust and outreaching to QEHKL & JPH.

 In this highly specialist role you will need to undertake an individual caseload of patients, relying on expert clinical judgement and using advanced analytical skills, to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated. Patients may present with a range of highly complex paediatric orthopaedic/neurological and/or congenital conditions.

You will need to ensure a high standard of care for each child working with all disciplines and agencies involved with that family.  You will be expected to liaise with all the agencies, parents, and children in an appropriate manner. This may involve sharing complex and highly sensitive information regarding diagnosis and outcomes and overcoming barriers to communication.

 You will be run independent Orthopaedic clinics such as DDH and talipes, alongside the Orthopaedic Consultants, assessing and triaging referrals.

 You will be responsible for clinical teaching and to actively participate in research and/or clinical evaluation and audit, in the paediatric specialty as well as actively leading practice and service development within orthopaedic paediatrics.

  • Registration with Health Professions Council
  • Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or other professional body

Experience

  • Extensive clinical experience in a broad range of specialities and healthcare settings
  • Evidence of leading initiatives relating to audit and research in relevant specialty
