Integrity

We take an honest, open and ethical approach to everything we do.

Dedication

We work as one team and support each other to maintain the highest professional standards.

Excellence

At the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH), we know the benefits diversity can bring to our organisation such as creativity, innovation and compassion. All of which have a direct impact towards our staff and patient experience. We are committed to being a Hospital for All – being equitable and inclusive, and a place where all feel a sense of belonging. We therefore particularly encourage and welcome applications from candidates who are underrepresented in NNUH’s workforce. These include people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, people with diverse abilities and people within the LGBT+ community.

Job overview

Norfolk and Norwich Hospital is a leading teaching hospital with world-class facilities, and physiotherapy is playing an instrumental role in exciting developments in the Trust. Our patients rate us highly on quality of care and having friendly, approachable staff and we are looking for like-
minded individuals to join us on this journey.

It is an exciting time to join our service with the Trust committed to the opening of a new dedicated Norfolk and Norwich Orthopaedic Centre in July 2024, transforming our elective care provision. The Trust is also becoming a designated major trauma centre over the next 5 years.

As a result our team is growing and we are seeking a Senior Therapy Assistant / Assistant Practitioner with experience of musculoskeletal conditions and/managing patients after orthopaedic surgery, to join our acute inpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic team. We are willing to consider recruiting to this role as a development post supporting you to progress from B3 to B4 through successful completion of our competency programme +/- foundation degree depending on your chosen route. We are willing to consider supporting fixed term or secondment options if substantive posts are not filled. Positions may soon also be available in other specialist teams across our in and outpatient services and you will be able to express interest in being considered for these if successful at interview.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will manage a delegated caseload of patients in addition to undertaking a variety of activities each day to support our Occupational Therapy/Therapy teams to provide excellent patient care. This may include working with another clinician during an assessment or treatment, supporting a patient to complete a prescribed exercise, functional task or mobility plan, undertaking administrative and reporting tasks, and maintaining equipment and stock levels.

You will receive training to undertake this role working with and learning from staff who are experts in their field along with junior staff, other support workers and students.

You will receive supervision and annual appraisal and take an active role within your own personal development using our competency framework.

We deliver services from 8:00 – 20:00 and the post holder must be flexible to work early, late and long day shifts. Post holder will be required to commit to 7 day working pattern. A roster is in place for weekend and bank holiday shifts.
