We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join us on our Advanced Clinical Fellow Scheme which is GMC Sponsored to work independently and accountably as part of a team of clinicians offering Mental Health services. 

Working collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians, and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering services; providing a 7 day a week, 24 hours a day service for 365 days a year.

In delivering your duties you are expected to display behaviours that are aligned with the Trust values and as required in accordance with the GMCs Good Medical Practice at all times. 

Main duties of the job

  • Observe the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures.
  • Provide, with consultant colleagues, a service in the specialty for the Trust with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department. 
  • Honour out-of-hours responsibilities, including rota commitments where contracted.
  • Provide agreed cover for colleague’s periods of leave.
  • Participate in audit and continuing medical education.
  • Contribute to the training of junior medical staff and medical students.
  • Be involved in research and teaching where appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·        Conduct comprehensive and holistic psychiatric assessments and risk assessments independently whilst appropriately seeking advice from the Consultant in complex cases.

·        Participate and provide recommendations in MHA assessments for patients presenting to the service when appropriate.

·        To record clinical entries contemporaneously in the electronic patient record.

·        Offer advice and supervision to other junior clinical members in the team when appropriate.

·        To attend handover meetings every day.

·        Attend the weekly regular supervision with the Consultant.

·        To provide medical leadership to the team when the Consultant in away with support from the covering Consultant when appropriate.

·        To attend and actively contribute to weekly MDT meetings.

·        Liaising with different specialties and departments to ensure.

·        To dictate letters to other services when appropriate to ensure seamless continuation of patient care.

·        To be a strong team player and work with the Multidisciplinary team in delivering holistic care.

·        To actively participate in the clinical governance of the team.

·        To actively participate in the teaching and training of junior clinical members of the team as appropriate.

Qualification/Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Skills/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice

Fitness to Practice

Essential criteria
  • Applicant’s knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely

Language Skills
