A fantastic opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, committed, and forward-thinking Arts Psychotherapist or play therapist to join a growing and innovative team who work with Under 18-year-olds within a Primary Care setting in Suffolk. This post is a fixed term 9 month contract. The Under 18 Wellbeing Team in Suffolk are a skilled multi-disciplinary team who work with children and young people who present with mild to moderate mental health needs.
As we recognize that the needs of children and families are very different we will consider all candidates who possess a relevant qualification. This includes Art, Drama, Music and Play therapy, to allow children and families to understand one another and to express themselves. You must be a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent.

The clinician joining the team will have a key responsibility for using their skills to enhance communication and understanding of the needs of the child and family. You will be an active team player, supporting the wider needs of this team and be a contributor to innovative practice.
In return we will offer you regular managerial support, the opportunity for developing networks with others, and the opportunity to grow your knowledge by working alongside core mental health clinicians and other agencies and professionals.
You will be supported by lead Arts Psychotherapist for CFYP and the current arts psychotherapist based in the U18 Wellbeing service. You will be provided with opportunities to access relevant Clinical Supervision/ peer supervision as befits your registration requirements.

You will be joining a team comprised of Primary Mental Health Worker (PMHWs), Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) Cognitive Behavioural Therapists (CBTs) and an arts psychotherapist. With our team receiving referrals for young people up to the age of 18, it is acknowledged that sometimes an alternative approach to CBT/ CBT informed is often required to meet the bespoke needs of our young people. We feel an offer of a creative therapy approach will be a valued and well-used resource for our team.

- Masters level / professional Art Psychotherapy Qualification
- Registration with HPC as an Art Psychotherapist or British Association of Play Therapists

- Previous experience working in CAMHS or a mental health setting
- Training and ability to deliver other therapeutic approaches e.g. DBT, EMDR, IPT
Competency

- Advanced knowledge of a range of Art Psychotherapy/ Play psychotherapy evidence based interventions used in the effective intervention in mental health problems
