We are looking to recruit a Theatre Stores Assistant to support our busy Theatre Stores Team.  If you are enthusiastic and highly motivated and would like to join us please continue reading.

Ideally you should have knowledge of previous NHS stores experience along with excellent IT skills and computerized stock management systems.

Candidates must have been educated to a good standard of literacy and numeracy.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and be able to work on your own initiative working independently prioritizing tasks and their own workload as well as being able to work well within a team.

It is essential that you are physically fit and able to undertake all aspects of manual handling associated with the job role.

We work over 7 days per week providing the service between 0700 - 2100 Monday - Friday and 0800 - 1800 Saturdays and Sundays.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Receive and unload panniers of operating instruments and sets, supplementary items and other items delivered to Theatre from HSDU, checking sterile packaging and distributing to correct storage place within theatre.

Assist with all theatre ordering: daily , weekly and monthly plus NHS Supplies, Pathology and Pharmacy.

Maintain and adjust stock levels on ORMIS.

Responsible for non-stock requisitioning.

Ensure delivery of goods and communicating out of stock and not available items.

Ensure stock levels are maintained, stock rotated and levels adjusted when necessary to accommodate increased activity.  Re-ordering prosthesis as used, maintaining records, liaise with companies/reps and communicating supply problems promptly.

Ensure all storage areas are tidy at all times.

Inform of any additions or variations to the surgical instrument trays and supplementary items, ensuring accurate completion of supporting documentation.

Able to identify supplementary instruments to assist theatre staff to select the correct items.

Any other appropriate duties which may be required to meet the needs of the service.
