Job overview

This is a brand new role and will involve cross site working in the two new Community Diagnostic Centres at The James Paget Hospital and Northgate Hospitals. 

-       To assist and support the CDC Speciality Operations Manager in the provision of services to ensure the Trusts achieves both internal and national targets i.e. wait time targets, NHS cancer targets in order to ensure compliance with National Standards.

-       To assist in the development of systems to improve Waiting List Management and Compliance.

-       To assist with business planning and profiling of activity. 

-       The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the administrative staff and for ensuring the smooth running of the Community Diagnostic Centres in relation to its administration functions.

-       They will manage the administrative, clerical and secretarial needs of the directorate and ensure, through careful monitoring of workloads that activity targets are met and that patient management is in line with the patient access policy.

-    The  post holder will be expected to work across both sites. 

Main duties of the job

The job holder needs to ;

1.    To work with the CDC Specialty Operational Manager and key Stakeholders in ensuring systems are in place to manage the Outpatient Waiting Lists.

2.    To develop systems to assist the Community Diagnostic Centres work towards supporting PTL queries and speciality pathways.

3.    To monitor the CDC activity as contracted through NHSE and escalate any change in activity to the CDC Operational Manager.

4.    To update the CDC weekly activity reporting on the NHSE portal.

5.    Prepare monthly activity reports

6.    To work closely with the Service, and Diagnostic Clinical teams to ensure systems are implemented.

7.    To develop and sustain good relationships with all service leads and staff across the CDCs and their secretarial / Admin staff.

8.    To support in compliance with NHS Cancer Plan standards advising and acting on as appropriate.

9.    To minimise patient cancellations/DNA’s.

10.  To support Trust policies ensuring they are current and reflect best practice.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Computer Literate with ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Managerial knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent experience plus further training and experience to post graduate diploma level or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Project management certification

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a leadership/supervsory role
  • Working knowledge of administrative procedures and software
  • Experience in managing people including performance management.
  • Experience in developing business processes for recording and reporting data.
Desirable criteria
  • A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it.
  • Speciality knowledge of health care management.
  • Experience of working in a Human Resources role.
