Are you a pharmacist looking for new challenges? This is an exciting time at NSFT, join us as we transform our Clinical Pharmacy services.

Due to significant investment in our Pharmacy team and the creation of a range of exciting new posts we are now looking to recruit new Clinical Pharmacists to join our friendly Pharmacy teams across the trust.

We have vacancies within the Suffolk Clinical Team based at Wedgwood House in Bury St Edmunds.

Pharmacists from any clinical background can apply as we provide comprehensive postgraduate training opportunities and supervision. Your main role will be to work with the multidisciplinary team to provide a clinical pharmacy service to the in-patient wards and home treatment team. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

From Autumn 2022, HEE supports the training of all eligible mental health pharmacists in Independent Prescribing, making this an ideal time to join us if you have an interest in developing mental health as your area of prescribing practice. Our pharmacists with postgraduate mental health and prescribing qualifications have gone on to new and exciting roles within NSFT which continue to develop as our pharmacy service expands.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on medicines optimisation for service users and carers in a clinical setting by

  • Clinically validate prescriptions for both inpatients and outpatients using electronic prescribing software
  • Integrate fully within the multidisciplinary team and participate in patient reviews
  • Provide direct patient care to our service users throughout their admission to mental health services
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to a range of healthcare professionals on both mental health any physical health medication
  • Provide Medicines Education to patients
  • Take the lead on medicines optimisation and medicines related Quality Improvement within your clinical setting
  • There is no dispensary commitment with this post.

Essential criteria
  • Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (includes Master’s Degree in pharmacy, one-year pre-registration training and final examination)
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate qualification in mental health therapeutics or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year qualified

  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
