Job overview
An exciting opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager has become available on the Acute Medical Unit in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr. We are looking to recruit an experienced nurse who possesses strong leadership skills to support our team.
The Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager will work in close partnership with the Band 7 Clinical Lead and the multidisciplinary teams. You should be able support the ethos of collaborative working, minimising stress for both patients and staff, whilst maximising the provision of high quality evidence based care.
Main duties of the job
You will also be expected to demonstrate a high level of nursing assessment and clinical care skills by supporting others in their professional development.
If successful, you will be given the opportunity to assist with the leadership of the unit and gain experience with improving your management skills by supporting staff through sickness, undertaking PADR’s, leading on improvement projects and liaising with bed management to ensure that patient flow is maintained according to the demands of the hospital.
There are exciting and challenging times ahead – the post holder will be expected to deliver on strategic goals with regard to the safety, quality, performance and financial agendas.
Relevant post registration clinical and managerial experience is essential, demonstrable at a Band 5 level in Acute Care. Resilience in this challenging & rewarding environment of care will be crucial.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
