An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Nurse for End-of-Life Care and Bereavement within the Patient Experience and Involvement Team. With a diverse work programme, we are looking for a motivated, passionate and innovative registered nurse who is able to drive forward our ambitions for excellent end of life and bereavement care, for improving patient experience and quality, embedding a culture of listening and learning.  

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that an end-of-life care and bereavement pathway and strategy is developed in partnership with people, statutory, voluntary, and third sector ensuring the work programme is integral to the strategic direction and priorities of the Health Board, End of Life Care Board and associated national drivers. 

As well as day to day professional and operational responsibility, supporting the Head of Nursing, the Patient Experience and Involvement Team and wider teams, the post holder will proactively lead on end-of-life care and bereavement improvements and service delivery to support high quality, effective and efficient patient services and support that put people at the centre. The post holder will work collaboratively with the public, staff, partners and all relevant stakeholders to ensure a sustainable model for end of life and bereavement care and support.

They will contribute to the creation of the person-centred care culture across the organisation that leads to inclusive service delivery that is seen to listen to and reflect the feedback and values of patients and the wider local community.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters Level or demonstrable equivalent
  • Knowledge of end of life and bereavement national standards
  • Specialist knowledge gained through additional training

Experience

  • Experience of working at a senior level across the organisation to drive complex agendas
  • Sound knowledge of patient experience quality outcomes
  • Experience of interagency working and the development of collaborative and effective partnerships
