Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join the Adult Mental Health Directorate as a Service Improvement Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Adult Mental Health Directorate consisting of 8 x Inpatient Units, Community Mental Health Teams in each borough, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams, Assertive Outreach Teams, a community Forensic Team, Specialist Services, operational management of the 136 suite and Crisis assessment Unit (CASU) and a pan Gwent Liaison service. 

You must be an energised enthusiast for continuous improvement and have experience of working within a management structure in supporting clinical teams and departments.

The post holder will provide day to day management of services provided by the Directorate and will be a key change agent, working closely with clinicians and senior managers to identify opportunities for service modernisation and quality improvement, improving the patient flow and experience.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that ABUHB’s aims and objectives are clearly communicated to the staff within the teams that information flows both up and down the organisation.

To provide advice and support to teams and services across the Directorate regarding quality and patient safety matters such as ligature risks, environmental improvements, capital funded projects and Minor Works schemes.

Communicate with the Corporate Team and Local Authorities around the reporting and updating of Delayed Transfers of Care (DTOCs) and ensure these are reported and escalated in a timely manner. 

Work closely with Directorate Management Teams and professional leads to achieve effective development and implementation of service developments.

To work closely with other external departments to the Health Board such as Works Estates, Facilities and Health and Safety to ensure that high quality patient experience and safety is delivered and planned for.

To support the Directorate Management Team and clinical teams ensuring that action planning around HIW and CHC visits, Health Environmental (HEB) walk arounds and Health and Safety recommendations are robust and monitored and that the ethos of a learning organisation is embraced, and that learning identified at a Directorate level is communicated throughout ABUHB where appropriate.

  • ECDL or equivalent

  • Ability to research, analyse information and produce written reports.
