Job overview
We are excited to be advertising this lead role in a service set up to promote the psychological wellbeing of children and young people with developmental delay or disability and their families. The Children’s Centre Psychology (CCP) team includes clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, child development advisors, a parent carer counsellor and parent carer peer mentor, all of whom are committed to working creatively and innovatively to support children with developmental delay or disability to live their best lives. We are seeking a leader who understands that cultural shifts and working systemically are as important to promoting psychological wellbeing as individual therapeutic work. The ability to work collaboratively with families to influence change in their lives, alongside holding a wider vision of strategic change is an important part of this role. CCP is part of the much bigger Child and Family Psychological Therapies service, which offers a range of psychological support and allows many opportunities for working together, learning together and feeling connected to a bigger system of psychologists.
Base: "Base to be confirmed as Pan Gwent Post. You will be based in Caerphilly Children's Centre or Nevill Hall Children's Centre. The main base is Llwyn Onn, St Cadoc's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a lead role in promoting the psychological wellbeing of children and young people with developmental delay or disability, their families and the systems that support them. The successful candidate will lead other members of the team and offer:
· Provision of high quality psychological information and advice, dissemination of specialist resources and workshops for families and staff
· Provision of psychological support, consultation and joint working with staff and families
· Therapeutic work with children and young people with developmental delay or disability and their families through individual work, family work and therapeutic groups
The successful candidate will also provide and engage in clinical supervision to support practice development, conduct and carry out research and audit on the provision of the service and play a key role in ongoing service development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Honours degree in Psychology
- Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, accredited by the BPS, or equivalent accredited by the BPS.
- Training in clinical supervision.
Desirable criteria
- Other related academic qualifications eg. Masters
- IT skills training.
- Completion of a post-qualification advanced training in a formal psychological therapy
- A post graduate research degree
- Completed or undergoing training in the development and management of clinical psychology or learning disabilities services.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Three year Doctorate training across a range of client groups but must include Children, Adults, people with Learning Disabilities, and Older Age Adults.
- Has completed at least 10 training days per year, on courses relevant to the provision of services for Children with Additional Needs
- Has kept up-to-date on current clinical practice in Clinical Psychology and in Child and Family Services more generally.
- Extensive post qualification clinical experience.
- To have developed an advanced level of clinical expertise in at least one area of clinical practice within services for Children with Additional Needs e.g. Positive Behavioural Support, Systemic approaches or Attachment Frameworks and to have undergone or is undergoing post qualification training in it as part of the CPD process.
Desirable criteria
- Extensive post qualification experience of working with children or adults with a learning disability.
- To have obtained further experience of working within other Clinical Psychology specialities e.g. Learning Disabilities services or Adult Mental Health Services.
- Research experience and statistical expertise. • Academic teaching
- Academic teaching experience.
- Experience of working in a multi-agency/disciplinary team.
- Experience of leading on an aspect of service development in a multi-agency setting.
