Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

The pharmacy provides a high-quality medicines service, supplying medication to a variety of patients and wards/departments at GUH, the majority of which is processed by our automated robot dispensing system.

The role will involve dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals, restocking and optimisation of pharmacy robotic storage and being part of the wider pharmacy team in providing a medicines management service at ward level. The role will be Monday - Friday, but there will be a need for weekend working on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out the accurate dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients, wards, departments, hospitals and clinics served by GUH.
  • To carry out the accurate distribution of stock pharmaceuticals, receipt of new stock into the department, the assembly of emergency kits, the preparation of pharmaceuticals and the accurate supply of basic non pharmaceutical information to clients. 
  • To use the pharmacy and other computer systems in order to carry out all tasks in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • To assist in the delivery of a near patient medicines management service to in patients admitted to wards at GUH. This will include tasks such as the assessment of patient's own drugs for inpatient use and discharge supply.

This post is fixed term for 6 months due to the needs of the service.
