Applications for this position are invited from HCPC Registered Podiatrists with the relevant experience looking for the opportunity to enhance their career in leadership within the Podiatry Profession.

The MSK Podiatry Clinical Lead post is a valued member of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Podiatry and Orthotics Services leadership Team. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for MSK Podiatry Services. They will provide operational and professional leadership to their clinical team, ensuring delivery of an equitable service. Initially, service scope will be Rhondda & Taff Ely CBC and Merthyr Cynon CBC with Bridgend CBC residents transferring to us this financial year. The role will require the identification of need, evaluation of priorities and embedding performance management to ensure delivery in line with the Governance, MSK Standards, Prudent and Value Based Healthcare Principles.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Clinical Lead in Orthotics. The post holder will support the development and delivery of our service who has users who require seamless care across two professions simultaneously.

The department encourages individual development and supports professional education.  The role will support opportunity to Engage with our Consultant MSK Podiatrist in Research and Development, together with supporting and encouraging CPD and advanced practice in the wider MSK team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of the CTMUHB wide Musculoskeletal  service and through collaborative working with health and social care partners identify the Podiatric needs within the CTMUHB Population and plan approaches to deliver. Hold responsibility for the performance of the MSK service and workforce development, conveying strategic and operation information to the MSK workforce.

Lead on projects, clinical audit and Quality Improvement for the Musculosketeal service. Working with the Podiatric & Orthotic Services Manager to project manage the tasks and delegate accordingly to MSK Team clinicians as appropriate. 

Be the public facing representative for CTMUHB Podiatry Musculoskeletal Services. Negotiating, persuading, motivating and providing information in an appropriate form to general public, partners and stakeholders as well as service users.

Providing a source of expert podiatric opinion regarding management of MSK pathology often in the presence of other complex medical needs. Work with the Consultant MSK Podiatrist to ensure the pathway Musculoskeletal Provision across CTM is aligned to the strategic agenda.

Lead on the ALN act within the Podiatry and Orthotic Services and provide quarterly reports to the DECLO and Head of Service.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Knowledge

 

BSc (Hons) in Podiatry Medicine or equivalent Diploma qualification including certificate of competency in use of local anaesthetic.

 

Master’s Level qualification or knowledge acquired through post graduate learning in an area pertinent to the role including health service management.

 

Professional Registration with the HCPC.

 

Management and Leadership qualifications or evidenced experience.

 

Essential Experience

 

Demostratable  experience in a leadership role within a NHS organisation..

 

Experience in leading delivery of patient and service objectives.

Appropriate clinical experience including research and audit activity.

 

Evidence of clinical supervision training and delivery.

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hons) in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent Diploma
  • Masters level qualification or knowledge acquired though post graduate learning in the area
  • Management and leadership qualification or evidenced experience.
Desirable criteria

  • Demostrated experience in a leadership role within a NHS organisation
