An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a  enthusiastic, motivated and experienced nurse to join the team at Ward 4, Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, where we are looking to recruit suitably motivated deputy ward manager.

Ysbyty Cwm Cynon is a Community Hospital with 4 wards, providing care to patients who require Complex discharge planning and rehabilitation .

You will be a vital part of the ward team, working alongside and deputising for the ward manager in their absence, and have the ability to demonstrate organisational and leadership skills. The candidate must be able to work under pressure and be able to work without direct supervision. The successful candidate must work well within the multidisciplinary team.

Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to planning providing excellent standards of care. You will be required to demonstrate professional attributes, including diversity, dealing with change and be able to work autonomously and effectively within the multidisciplinary team.

You would also be supported within your own professional development and will have the opportunity to become involved with many exciting projects working within the Community and Primary Care settings.

The ideal candidate will have interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible approach to work. Committed to delivering high standards of patient focused care is an essential requirement of the post.

Main duties of the job

A broad overview of responsibilities includes working with the multidisciplinary team to successfully rehabilitate patients to safely return home from their hospital stay.  

This challenging role requires a knowledge of effective discharge planning and good problem solving skills combined with a flexible and adaptable approach to the service.  The role involves deputising for ward managers in their absence to lead the nursing team and facilitate timely discharges.

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse Level 1/2 or Degree in Nursing or an equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in relevant sphere
Desirable criteria
  • IV devices
  • IV additives
  • Teaching and Assessing in professional practice.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sufficient post registration experience of working in an acute or community hospital
  • Organizational, interpersonal and operational skills needed for post i.e. management of resources i.e. planning and delivery of direct patient care
  • Ability to produce written and verbal reports pertinent to the post i.e. individual patient and ward documentation
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of audit tools and dependency tools e.g. Criteria for Care
