Job overview

The Medicine Clinical Service Group are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Support Medical Secretary to support the Rheumatology service based at the  Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

The post holder will be required to  work within a team using their own initiative and demonstrate excellent typing , flexibility, communication and  organisational skills to meet the needs of the service.  The post holder must be ICT literate and it would be an advantage if the post holder was familiar with NHS information systems such as WPAS (Myrddin). 

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of this role will be to provide secretarial duties such as audio typing, mail and filing duties, managing patient pathways and liaising with patients, relatives/carers and external partners daily.

 A good understanding of the principles of Referral to Treatment Time is also required and an empathetic approach to customer care, therefore an excellent telephone manner will need to be demonstrated.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • RSA/OCR Stage III or equivalent in word processing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel packages
