Job overview

The post holder will assist the ward manager in providing day to day management and supervision of a team of registered and unregistered staff or a ward/wards. 

To contribute to the provision of health care to the people of Cwm Taf with continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the delivery of service.  

To be responsible and provide effective leadership for a team of staff providing a high quality service within the resources available within a defined area. 

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  band 6  Ward Sister to further develop your managerial knowledge and skills within the surgical directorate. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced registered nurse to join our team as a Band 6 managerial position on Ward 9, Princess of Wales Hospital.

Ward 9 is an emergency surgical ward that cares for multiple specialities including colorectal, upper GI, urology and ENT.

The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible approach to work. A commitment to delivering high standards of patient focused care is an essential requirement of the post.

You will be a vital part of the ward team, to support the Ward Manager, you will be integral  to the governance agenda as well as  demonstrating  excellent and effective leadership skills. In return, you will be supported by a dedicated and passionate team, and you will be supported in your own professional development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
