An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the newly developed Stroke Early Supported Discharge Service as a generic Occupational Therapy/Speech and language therapy technician. We are looking for a skilled, organised and enthusiastic individual to join our established and friendly, integrated team.
Main duties of the job
Key aspects of the role include working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to undertake specific clinical/therapy based assessments, interventions, home assessments/sessions, undertake rehabilitation programmes as designated by the registered practitioner, provide adaptive equipment, support patients to remain in their own home, avoid hospital admission as well as administrative and supportive tasks.
You will also need to have excellent time management and prioritisation skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Evidence of good education, to include English, Mathematics GCSE or posses equivalent qualification, or skills knowledge and eperience
- Relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Knowledge relating to a range of core OT/SLT activities
- Understanding of stroke and neurological related issues.
Desirable criteria
- OT/SLT specific educational modules AGORED or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Administrative skills
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
- Experience of working as HCSW in a medical, rehabilitation or care setting at Band 3
- Experience of developing/delivering education advice to groups
- Experience of working with the public
- Experience of competency based training
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with healthcare professionals
- Previous experience within the NHS or with patients Who have had a stroke or have neurological conditions
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent ICT, computer literacy and keyboard skills
- The ability to work independently whilst under appropriate supervision
- Strong organisational skills
- Good time management skills
Desirable criteria
- Ability to work with patients with communication barriers/motivational issues
- Ability to speak Welsh
