Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Therapy technician  to work within the expanding Multidisciplinary/Multiagency Community Resource Team based in the Bridgend area.

Previous experience of working within the NHS or Social services care setting is essential for the post as well as NVQ level 3 / Agored level 3 related to Health /Social care.

The successful candidate would support the Therapy staff to deliver individual reablement interventions to people who have suffered an acute physical episode.

The role involves delivering services to promote maximum independence and facilitate optimal function for clients to return safely to their own homes. The post involves clinical and non-clinical duties.

The successful candidate would have the support and regular supervision/PADR from the therapists based within CRT.

The successful candidate would have completed or is willing to complete the AGORED Support staff Diploma.

 

 

Main duties of the job

To be a fully engaged member of the Community Resource Team (CRT) providing a service within a defined area, supporting the therapists with clients who may have complex needs in the community

To undertake intervention programmes provided by therapists with individual clients or groups, this may involve fitting and instruction on the use of adaptive equipment, the supervision of adaptive daily living skills and leading therapeutic groups.

 Maintain clinical records (paper & electronic) and report accurately to others.

 Carry out administrative duties in relation to clinical, service, departmental needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 2 eg NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care.
  • Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 eg NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care.
  • Relevant Agored Cymru qualifications or willingness to participate and achieve appropriate Agored Cymru qualifications
  • Documented evidence of participation in training activities
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of professional body and/or special interest group

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the role of occupational therapy &Physiotherapy.
  • Relevant experience working within health, social or teaching settings
  • Understanding of the concept of reablement within the clinical area
  • Awareness of Occupational Therapy equipment e.g. toilet equipment
  • Basic knowledge of some conditions and the effects of illness on function.
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation & practices.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
