Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.

Job overview
The post holder will support the head of resuscitation services with the management of an appropriate resuscitation service across the Trust to ensure compliance with local and National standards.
They will plan, organise, implement and evaluate training programmes for adult and paediatric basic and advanced life support techniques for all grades of staff, to a level compatible with their expected degree of competence in practice.
The senior resuscitation officer will attend emergency calls to develop and maintain their clinical skills, expertise and credibility within the role, monitor team performance, ensure Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines are adhered to, and provide clinical support and advice both during and following resuscitation attempts.
The post holder will lead in the development of resuscitation policies and protocols and the setting, monitoring and auditing of standards relating to all aspects of resuscitation including clinical equipment used in practice. T
hey will be able to provide leadership and management support to resuscitation services as required, and in the absence of the head of resuscitation services.
Main duties of the job
Ensure that all training is carried out in a standardised way in accordance with current evidence-based international and national resuscitation guidelines to ensure the provision of high quality patient care, using agreed teaching methods during training delivery.
Ensure all newly appointed medical and nursing staff and other personnel as agreed, who are likely to be on the cardiac arrest team(s), are offered training in advanced resuscitation methods, including the operation of relevant equipment e.g. defibrillators.
Assess clinical skills and provide remedial training and support for those who fail to meet the required standard. Will inform the relevant staff’s manager of any concerns with individual staff member’s competence.
Ensure staff are aware of the Trust resuscitation policies and their application to practice.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the resuscitation training programme in response to organisational and service demands.
Lead on the dissemination of changes in evidence-based practice relating to resuscitation care in accordance with the Resuscitation Council (UK) and Advanced Life Support Group guidelines.
Lead the planning, co-ordinating and all administrative work associated with the provision of current and future externally accredited resuscitation courses e.g. Advanced Paediatric Life Support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Plan, organise and implement a resuscitation training programme for all
members of the multidisciplinary team throughout the Trust according to their expected degree of competence in practice.
