Leverhulme Surgical Unit is a busy Surgical area supporting both day case and in-patients

We are a dedicated, welcoming and professional team of staff .

The housekeeper is an integral member of the team who will work along side the Management and Nursing team in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness of all Nursing equipment, both in use on the ward and in store.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness of all nursing equipment, both in use on the ward and in store. 
  • To ensure all equipment and the ward environment is in good working order at all times and report appropriately if not.
  • Maintain Health and Safety in the workplace and complete risk assessments and electrical checks as required.
  • To order and maintain an appropriate stock supply of consumables to unit via oracle, /telephone/email/hospital supply chain
  • Support ward staff with the serving of food and drinks for the patients.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and perform clerical tasks such as answering the telephone and use of cerner.IT system

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 1 in a relevant subject or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Previously experience in an acute NHS hospital
  • Previous experience of the Cerner Millennium information system
  • Good keyboard and computer skills

  • General awareness of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations and processes.
  • Good time management and organisational skills
Desirable criteria
  • General awareness of Food Hygiene regulations and processes
