Applications are invited for the role Junior Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer (Annex 21), working with Employment Services at Jubilee Court!

This is a fixed-term opportunity for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for supporting the service delivery of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) within Employment Services. 
  • An Annex 21 role that will build foundation level development / coding skills to design, implement, maintain, and support automated process, with a keen willingness to further develop RPA skills through formal training and Senior RPA Developer led coaching and mentoring.
  • Communicate and maintain excellent working relationships with all those that use, commission and work with automations.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

KEY DUTIES

  • Write, amend, refactor and document RPA code, with training and supervision from Senior RPA Developer, to build basic or moderate programs/scripts that automate approved processes.
  • With training and guidance, manage the operation and maintenance of bots in production environment.  Act as bot administrator to deliver first line support for bots and automation users.  
  • With training and guidance, support the drive of process assessments for automation opportunities, which may include process analysis and preparing documentation of solutions and coding.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for Service Development / Improvement to support or enable automation opportunities.
  • Supporting new process opportunities for analysing, quickly assessing feasibility.
  • Adhere to internal process and procedures, and advising others which software development standards/processes/procedures apply.
  • Constantly seek to learn and further develop your skills as required for your role. Monitor changes in the technology on which we rely and alert on any issues or trends affecting our software. Adhere to industry's best practices, produce well-engineered modern products and guide others in doing so.
  • Use security controls to build secure products and engineer to mitigate security threats. Handle information with confidentiality and integrity, work with stakeholders to ensure compliance and information assurance. Contribute to identifying risks and threats.
  • Support and maintain software as required, including in the live environment. Use modern tools to effectively and thoroughly identify and troubleshoot faults. Package and deploy software built. 
  • Contribute to planning by estimating your own effort. Practice the agreed methodology and apply it to your work, identifying obvious deficiencies and supporting activities to improve the development process. Choose the most appropriate from a variety of methods of prototyping, actively soliciting prototypes from others.
  • Develop Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) for users to follow.
  • Work closely with staff in organisations to use the systems in new ways and to follow the best practice or SOP guidance on the ground. 
  • They will monitor, collate, and analyse a wide range of data including performance, financial and activity information and support the development of meaningful reports that enable effective decision making about strategic direction and programme delivery by relevant leads and governance forums. 
  • They will support the Assurance function with initial collation, tracking and presentation of evidence to enable assurance feedback to be provided. 
  • Maintain local area project documentation.
  • Draft documentation and communications to support end users to understand how to use their systems to realise the benefits of streamlining. 
  • They will provide senior level secretarial, administrative and Project support and facilitate the management of the affairs of the RPA Team. 
  • To assist the Senior RPA Developer in identifying and scheduling tasks.
  • To produce and regularly update project plans and reports according to internal project governance standards. 
  • To work collaboratively with the Senior RPA Developer in identifying operational workflow, procedures, deployment schedules, potential service realignment and expected benefits of the project. 
  • Communicate with stakeholders, Project Teams and all levels of Trust staff to generate commitment and enthusiasm and persuade potential users to accept change. 
  • Monitor the progress of the project/area against agreed targets, highlighting any untoward issues, contribute to the adjustment of plans so that the deliverables are on time, to specified quality and within budget.
  • Contributing to delivery and implementation of robust process automations, while supporting the day-to-day operations of the bot portfolio and infrastructure.
  • Personal development of automation knowledge, skills and abilities to develop programs/scripts that automate processes of increasing complexity with enhanced autonomy.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level and/or equivalent level of qualification and/or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) accreditation or evidence of RPA learning
  • Evidence of commitment and activities to support Continuing Development

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working with industry standard coding languages / software development platforms
  • An understanding of RPA and best practice delivery
  • An awareness of change impact and the effect on the ability to automate or the need to update existing automations
  • An understanding of industry standard approaches to exceptions and error handling
  • Experience of documenting solutions and system dependencies
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protections
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working with at least one of the top 3 RPA platforms (Automation Anywhere, UiPath or BluePrism)
  • Knowledge of computer program design methods and techniques
  • Experience of system management and support
  • Knowledge of streamlining principles / concepts

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Proven use of office systems, i.e. MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Sound judgement and logical approach to complex situations, with ability to determine and implement solutions.
  • Good analytical skills. Able to analyse reports and complex data.
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
  • Ability to manage, maintain and distribute accurate programme and project documents, files and plans.
