Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Support Medical Secretary to join our expanding team in the Radiology Department.
It is expected that applicants will have appropriate experience of working in a medical environment and also demonstrate a background of working in an office environment with the ability to liaise with all the relevant departments within the Trust.
Being a team player is essential together with first-rate organisational skills.
Main duties of the job
- Working as part of a team to provide secretarial support to the Radiology Department
- Working across all specialties to ensure timely despatch of Radiology reports to General Practitioners and Consultants on a timely basis.

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.
From 1st July we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ III or equivalent experience
- Audio typing qualification
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- RSA II/III Typing or word processing
Knowledge and experience

- Previous administrative experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience
- Previous secretarial experience and knowledge of secretarial/admin procedures
Skills

- Ability to work as a team
- Ability to communicate effectively
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
