Job overview
To ensure the smooth running of all theatre sessions at PSDU Southport through effective list planning, scheduling and utilisation of the theatre system. You will carry out your duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work within the PSDU at Southport hospital. It is essential that you should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and it is vital that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Main duties of the job
· Deal with any day-to-day queries from theatre staff regarding the theatre system and help resolve any problems that may arise.
· Ensuring that contingency plans are adhered to and data capture forms are available on request and also input data retrospectively on theatre when required.
· Assist with testing of system changes and newly implemented systems at the request of the line manager or operational theatre manager.
· Liaise with the theatre education and training co-ordinator and I.T. to organise update training for staff and new starters. Teach/update staff when ‘patches’ or upgrades to the system are introduced.
· Highlight inaccuracies on system to theatre operational managers and team leaders, requesting errors and omissions to be rectified in real time to ensure data quality is to high standard.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Be able to work as part of a team, promote effective flows in the department to cover leave to ensure office runs smoothly.
Provide administrative support to SFA, Theatre Coordinator’s/Band 6’s within the department.
Full cover of PSDU reception desk, meet and greet during day case unit opening times.
Answering telephone calls and dealing with queries for the department where appropriate or locating relevant member of staff. Ensuring only staff who need to access theatre and recovery enter the clinical area.
Ensuring all checklists forms are maintained for theatres.
Accurate and timely input of data onto information databases.

- ECDL or proven IT experience
