An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to join us as our Head of Quality - Nursing.  We are looking for someone who can drive the strategic quality assurance framework and who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary services to our patients.

The successful post holder will have proven leadership skills and will develop effective systems that provide assurance of good quality patient care. We are seeking someone who will take a facilitative and empowering approach, nurturing creativity and leading others to adopt best practice throughout the Trust to support consistent delivery of fundamental nursing care.

Working collaboratively with senior nurses and other key stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a key role in the development and delivery of excellent fundamental nursing care practice.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The Head of Quality (Nursing) will have managerial experience in leading teams and will possess leadership skills to deal competently with complex issues in ensuring that policy is implemented, and performance managed within the Division.

 

Working closely with the Divisional Leadership Team they will support the implementation of patient centered clinical operational strategy and plans, ensuring that systems and processes are in place to comply with relevant legislation and governance requirements, linking with external bodies such as commissioners about service developments, contracts and clinical care pathways whilst utilising the expertise and skills of the wider Divisional team.

  

Reporting to the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing and accountable to the Divisional Director of Operations, the post holder is expected to function at a senior level within the Divisional senior leadership team, proactively leading and providing solutions to resolve complex operational issues, in accordance with agreed Trust objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints.

 

  The post holder will participate in the on-call rota.

From 1st July we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

  • Delegated responsibility for nursing budgets across the Division in collaboration with Matrons and ward managers, reporting incidences of variance to the Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing.
  • Responsible for developing Cost reduction and Cost Improvement plans for nursing in partnership with Matrons, Specialist Nurses and Ward Managers reporting progress and results to the Divisional team.
  •  Working with the senior leadership team, engineer the development of nurses, within the Division to ensure that patient care and services are led by competent, capable, high performing teams.
  •  Working with the senior leadership team, ensure that staff health and well-being is at the heart of all people management practice, and that there are mechanisms in place to develop resilience, reduce pressure points, and provide support for staff to manage their working lives, including application of Trust HR policy as and when required. Shows respect for the views and contributions of other team members; shows empathy; listens, supports and cares for others; consults others and shares information and expertise with them; builds team spirit and reconciles conflict; adapts to team and fits in well.

  • Currently working a senior clinical manager capacity, with responsibility for clinical quality, people management, budget responsibility and successful delivery of performance targets and quality standards within strict financial controls
  • Experience of leading quality improvement initiatives with demonstrable outputs
  • Experience of ward management

  • Knowledge and understanding of computerised financial, managements, budgetary management, and workforce information systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of governance arrangements and standards in the NHS and the wider health and social care economy
