Job overview

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team of endoscopy schedulers working within our busy endoscopy booking office. If you are eager to learn, have a flexible approach to work and are reliable and enthusiastic, we would like to hear from you. 

The role involves the booking of patients needing endoscopy in accordance with all Diagnostic, RTT and Cancer Targets.

You will be working as part of a friendly, welcoming and expert Multidisciplinary Endoscopy Team who are enthusiastic and encouraging in a happy working environment. Mentoring, training and guidance will be provided to the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will also work closely with both Medical and Nursing Staff within the department, who think of the Patient first and always uphold the Trusts values.

Main duties of the job

To analyse and manage waiting lists to enable planning of patient procedure dates ensuring that Diagnostic, RTT and Cancer Targets are met.

To communicate appointment related information to the patient by phone. Issuing letters and bowel preparation to booked patients.

To track and retrieve referrals and associated records in a timely manner.

You should have excellent keyboard skills. Knowledge of the Hospital Patient Administrative System (Medway) and have some experience working within an office setting. Good communication and telephone skills and the ability to work independently are also essential.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level English and Maths
  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification/experience
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a confidential environment
  • Knowledge of patient administration and other relevant systems acquired through training or experience
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS/Customer Care Experience
  • Knowledge of RTT, Diagnostic and Cancer Target wait times
