Job overview
We need a suitably experienced Senior Physiotherapist with an interest in Neurology and Long Term Conditions to join our well established, specialist out-patient services at the Walton Centre.
Knowledge of the management of patients with long term neurological conditions, neuro-muscular disorders and functional neurological disorders is essential. Experience of liaison across various health care teams and experience of working autonomously are also a pre-requisite for the role.
You will have excellent organisational skills, be an effective team player and have a flexible approach to service delivery. You will have an interest in audit and research with a commitment to CPD. Your clinical and professional development will be supported by a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Therapist and the Professional Lead for Physiotherapy through regular appraisals and training.
Main duties of the job
- Establish and manage a clinical caseload including long term conditions, neuromuscular disorders and functional neurological diagnoses.
- To work collaboratively with other clinicians, including medical and nursing staff to influence service development and ensure quality of care is delivered
- To provide clinical education and training to other health care professionals
- Influence research and professional development for self and others.
- Where appropriate participate in clinical rotations across all areas of the Walton Centre Therapy service as directed by Therapy Managers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Health & Care Professions Council registration
- Ability to demonstrate a practical and theoretical working knowledge of identified specialist area of practice
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship experience or Professional practice educators qualification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to demonstrate a practical and theoretical working knowledge of postgraduate Physiotherapy Practice across a range of clinical settings
- Previous experience of assessment and treatment of Neurological disorders and long term conditions
- Able to plan and carry out a complex and demanding workload
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- To have highly developed interpersonal skills
- Awareness of the role of physiotherapy in the Neurology outpatient setting
- Ability to demonstrate clinical reasoning and an holistic approach to patient care
- Effective and responsive communicator on all levels
- To demonstrate diplomacy, tact and empathy within clinical/team settings
- A positive attitude to change and flexible working practices to meet changing service demands
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate experience of working in an outpatient setting
- Experience of supervising and delegating to junior staff and appraisal
