Trosolwg o'r swydd

The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational day-to-day
management of the Critical Care Unit. He/she will be expected to work as an expert
practitioner responsible for the delivery of patient focused programmes of care which
address the complex and changing health and wellbeing needs of critically ill patients and
their families. Additionally the post holder will be expected to demonstrate enhanced
communication and interpersonal skills, providing direction and professional inspirational
leadership to all members of the multi-professional team within the clinical area.

Demonstrate specialist Critical Care skills, expertise and professional knowledge acquired through post registration clinical experience, leadership, managerial development and academic study.
Provide strong and visible leadership in the clinical area that prioritises and improves quality of care delivery by focusing on patient safety, patient experience and clinical effectiveness.
Act as a clinically credible practitioner and role model to inspire team members to provide quality patient care.
Promote and maintain a safe therapeutic environment for patients, their families and staff, according to national and local Infection Control guidelines, Health & Safety legislation and Trust policies and objectives.
Ensure that The Walton Way values are embedded at all levels and underpin all aspects of own and others clinical practice.
Encourage an open culture for quality and safety encompassing dignity, respect, candour, transparency and a continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications

  • 1st level Registered Nurse (Adult).
  • Educated to a minimum of Degree Level or Undergraduate Degree Programme due to be completed within two years.
  • Post registration award in Critical Care Nursing.
  • Post registration award in Neuroscience Nursing.
  • Mentorship or equivalent teaching and accessing qualification.
  • Clinical Examination or Clinical Assessment/Diagnostics qualification (Level 6 or level 7).
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Postgraduate (MSc) qualification or working towards.
  • Leadership/Managem ent qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • Evidence of participation in research/audit
  • ILS or ALS qualification.
  • Sign off mentor status.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Evidence of active involvement in developing new ways of working.
  • Up to date knowledge of current local and national issues in healthcare.
  • Awareness of clinical governance and risk management issues.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience as a Band 6 nurse in Critical Care.
  • Experience of mentoring/assessing/coaching others.
  • Evidence of participation in service development projects /change initiatives related to Critical Care.

  • Evidence of participation in service improvement projects.
  • Evidence of participation in root cause analysis.
  • Management/Leaders hip experience.
  • Experienced in staff management, able to persuade and influence and handle conflict.
  • Audit and/or research experience
  • Experience/knowledge of change management.
  • Evidence of providing staff with feedback on their individual performance/ participation in the PDR process.
  • Evidence of experience as a Critical Care link nurse

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate basic IT skills
  • Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records an documents.
  • Enhanced problem solving and decision making abilities.
  • Effective delegation skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate and support learning and development of staff in practice.
