Job overview

This post will be based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool, and will involve movement around the local area.

As a Delivery Driver, you’ll build strong relationships with our pharmacy teams and patients who can’t easily get to our centre after a virtual appointment, or who are receiving specialist medicines which are not always available at the time of their in-person appointment. These are often some of the most vulnerable and unwell patients, and the service you provide to them by delivering their medicines is of critical importance.

You will also help us to transfer both dispensed and stock medicines across our sites, including clinic hubs across the local area, which enables patients to be seen in a clinic near their home rather than travelling to one of our centres. This will include ensuring the safe custody of medicines and maintenance of cold chain systems to make sure that medicines arrive safely and ready to be used or issued to patients.

Working closely with the PharmaC teams, your local knowledge and a passion for delivering a great service will ensure that your valuable cargo gets to the right place at the right time.

It is essential you have a Full UK clean Driving Licence, good knowledge of the local area and have the flexibility to cover other drivers in the team.  The successful  applicant must also be licenced to driving manual vehicles from the CPL fleet of delivery vans.

Main duties of the job

Permanent – 40 hours per week – mainly Monday to Friday, but could include some weekend and Bank Holiday work as required. Part time hours may also be considered.

Salary: Starting at £24,268 rising to £26,527 after 12 months (subject to completion of required training scheme and successful appraisal)

  • Collection of dispensed medicines from PharmaC and delivery to patient homes
  • Transfer of medicines between PharmaC Liverpool and PharmaC Wirral sites, and return of empty tote boxes and delivery bags.
  • Delivery of medicines to hub clinic areas and putting away in designated storage area
  • Return of uncollected medicines from designated area in hub clinics back to PharmaC for reuse.
  • Maintenance of adequate and safe medicines storage and transport conditions including cold chain
  • Working in accordance with both set delivery schedules and ad hoc requests.
  • Completion of legally required medicines delivery training scheme
  • Record keeping in relation to PharmaC lease vehicle as appropriate
