The PharmaC team at Clatterbridge Cancer centre is expanding, and we have a number of opportunities to offer to passionate and dedicated individuals who are looking for a new challenge, the next step in their Pharmacy career, or just something different.

You will be joining a diverse and professional team, who take pride in providing a high quality and efficient medicines supply service to the Trust, to ensure that patients receive the best care possible.  

We expect a high standard of work from our team members. You will need great communication and organisational skills, along with the skills needed to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. You will also need to follow strict procedures and instructions carefully, and be flexible to adapt to changing situations; dealing with queries and issues promptly, escalating when necessary. You will also need accurate record keeping and IT skills.

Pharmacy experience in either hospital or community pharmacy is desirable, but full training will be given to successful candidates, as well as plenty of opportunities for development and progression to those who have demonstrated excellence in the service of our patients.

Main duties of the job

Bank Outpatients Pharmacist 

This is an exceptional career opportunity for a talented Pharmacist wishing to gain a breadth of experience in a specialist pharmacy in a cancer setting. You will be joining the team at an exciting time as we look to embed recent changes and further transform our ways of working to support Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust with its ambitions.

This will be a rewarding role which will include participation in a wide variety of projects and groups, making it an ideal career opportunity to develop both operational and management skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The successful candidate will be a role model, inspiring and giving direction to our pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants that deliver a range of pharmacy operations including procurement, dispensary and ward-based services. Working alongside the pharmacy management team, you will optimise arrangements at the interface with the Trust’s clinical pharmacy services and contribute to the medicines management agenda. Our collective aims with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre are to promote a collaborative culture within pharmacy and with colleagues across the Trust, playing a significant part in ensuring pharmacy services develop strategically in line with the Trust’s objectives, including cost improvements and budgetary management.

Essential criteria
  • MPharm degree
  • Valid GPhC registration

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • excellent clinical / pharmaceutical knowledge relating to promotion of high quality, effective and cost effective use of medicines
  • clear understanding of clinical governance and risk management
Desirable criteria
  • post registration experience / documented clinical experience
  • experience of delivering a high quality service
  • HR management
  • outpatient / retail pharmacy experience

skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • excellent interpersonal skills - influencing and negotiation
  • ability to prioritise workload according to changing demands whilst maintaining quality, accuracy and safety
  • risk management skills
  • ability to work a shift system including bank holiday cover
