This new fellowship is part of a national pilot program aiming to develop core competencies in supportive oncology among doctors working throughout the continuum of cancer care. The aim of this 12 month post is to equip the fellow with knowledge and skills in symptom control, management of side effects of cancer treatments, psychological support, complex pain management and research in supportive care. The development of this knowledge will be underpinned by a curriculum in supportive oncology, developed and badged by the UK Association of Supportive Care in cancer (UKASCC) and endorsed by the Royal College of Radiologists. Demonstration of achievement of the curriculum including completion of appropriate workplace based assessments and attendance at national (remote) teaching events will result in a certificate of fellowship completion at the end of the 12 months from UKASCC.

The role will be suitable for doctors who have completed Internal Medicine or GP Training particularly for those wishing to gain additional experience in palliative and supportive care.
