An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager in the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) and Hotline here at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in the Acute Care Directorate based in Liverpool. CDU and Hotline provides care and support for acute oncology patients. As a nurse within our Directorate you will be able to develop your skills and knowledge in cancer care within our acute oncology emergency admission unit and our nurse led telephone triage service.
We are looking to recruit highly motivated individuals with excellent organisation and communication skills, and ability to lead and drive change. The post holder will be supporting staff and patients within an acute environment and play a major role in supporting the ward manager in future nursing developments.
The post holder will work between the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) and our Oncology Hotline Service. This position is for a Band 6 at 30 hours per week. Our opening hours are 08:00-20:30 with the requirement to work weekend shifts in our Hotline service too.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will also posses excellent clinical skills.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 1st level Nurse (RGN) with UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- BSc. Nursing, Health or management related studies or above or equivalent, or evidence of ability to work at that level
- Evidence of consistent professional and educational development
- ENB 998 or equivalent teaching/mentorship course
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
- Recognized Management Qualification or relevant management experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the political and strategic health agendas including the impact of such at operational level
- Innovative and enthusiastic
- High level negotiation and influencing skills
