Senior Health Care Support Worker, Permanent position 

Outpatients and Phlebotomy Department, Paddington, CCC  Liverpool.

 37.5 Hrs  Monday -Friday 08.00-18.00 including BH 

A rewarding and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outpatient Department. Applications are welcome from flexible, enthusiastic and motivated individuals. 

The role involves working collaboratively with registered nurses, clinicians and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team within the Outpatient Department.

Outpatients currently support a wide variety of clinical teams and activities within the department including endoscope, ECG, phlebotomy, PICC & Port access and care, SACT assessment clinics. This offers our staff a varied working day and daily learning opportunities. 

Excellent communication skills are essential and phlebotomy experience is desired.

Main duties of the job

The senior health care support worker role involves the undertaking of clerical duties; providing hands-on care, assistance and emotional support to patients and their relatives; performing phlebotomy, PICC and Port access and care; assisting the clinicians with endoscopic procedures, cleaning, safe handling and storage of the endoscopes; observations, urinalysis, BM recording, ECG recording; preparing for clinics and maintaining high standards of documentation and record keeping.

Excellent communication skills and experience of working as a Band 3 health care support worker with phlebotomy experience is essential.

This role will be mostly based within the Paddington Diagnostic centre  Centre Liverpool, however there may be a requirement to work flexibly supporting our other Outpatient Clinics across our other sites (Wirral, Aintree and Liverpool ) if necessary.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education/ Literacy & Numeracy or willing to work towards obtaining
  • Working towards or prepared to work towards obtaining an apprenticeship in clinical healthcare.
  • Holds National Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
