Job overview

As part of a continuing recruitment plan, we are looking for a dynamic and proactive staff member to maintain the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-focused care within our Gynaecology and Obstetrics theatres. Therefore an exciting opportunity has arisen for a theatre practitioner with scrub skills to take on a role at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

We are looking fora  forward thinking and highly motivated person, who is able to demonstrate good time management skills, you will also need to possess good communication skill (verbal, written & electronic) and have the ability to work as part of a cohesive team.

This post is suitable for registered staff – RGN and ODP, newly qualified and experienced and you must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Main duties of the job

To perform as a safe and competent clinical member of the team in theatre scrub and provide specialised holistic care for the peri-operative patient.

Contribute to an effective, motivated and competent workforce and ensure that high quality standards are maintained and developed.

Ensure the cleanliness of all the Operating Theatre areas and equipment at all times.

Prepare the Operating Theatre prior to and following operative procedures.

Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota as required.

Perform other duties as reasonably required to assist in the smooth running of the Operating Department.

Be responsible for the self-development of skills and competencies.

Maintain a broad understanding of the work of the Clinical Support Services and the Trust as a whole and actively contribute your ideas for the improvement of service provision.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified O.D.P. or R.N. (Adult)
  • Appropriate UK Professional Registration
  • Diploma Educated or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Scrub qualification
  • Teaching and assessing qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous perioperative experience in theatre environment
  • This post is suitable for newly qualified ODPs or for nurses with previous theatre scrub experience.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to deliver high standards of care.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate expertise in theatre nursing/ODP training
  • Applicants must have appropriate UK professional registration

Skills/Knowledge/Ability

Essential criteria
  • Able to develop and maintain good communication skills with people about difficult matters and/or in difficult sitations
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Able to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Good written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
  • Able to demonstrate self-motivation and the motivation of others.
  • Understanding of the need for change in the clinical setting due to strive for quality.
  • Good I.T skills
