Hewitt Fertility Centre is a large fertility unit and one of the leading fertility clinics in Europe. It offers a wide range of fertility treatments including IVF, ICSI, Gamete Donation, Surrogacy and Fertility Preservation.

Main duties of the job

 

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working within the Hewitt Fertility Centre you will work within the multi-disciplinary team but also autonomously. Your week will be split between both Knutsford and Liverpool sites.

You will lead your own clinics including initiating investigations and explaining the fertility process to individual patients. Obtaining consent and ensuring information is understood. You will also plan the individuals care pathway.

You will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process.

You will lead scan lists which include baseline scans, follicular tracking and pregnancy scans and then plan the appropriate care following the scan.

Prescribing is essential and you will plan and prescribe relevant medication throughout the fertility pathway, referring to the appropriate protocols.

An ability to perform intra uterine insemination is required and also Embryo transfers.

The role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner will include research and education, working with all member of the team within the fertility unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Act as a lead for specialist fertility services within the trust, supporting the Lead Fertility Nurse / Consultant Nurse to identify strategic direction for fertility services across primary secondary and tertiary care
  • ork as a clinical expert and role model and provide practice development and leadership in a multi -disciplinary environment.
  • Use expert knowledge to investigate and manage patients referred for specialist fertility treatment.
  • Ensure that all interventions are based on scientific rationale, evidence based standards of care and current best practice guidelines and pathways.
  • Demonstrate highly developed and advanced specialist knowledge and skills through innovative practice providing increased levels of autonomy.
  • The post holder will be required to work at our Knutsford site  as required
  • Support the Clinical Services Manager and wider members of the Divisional Management team in achieving the strategic objectives for the Division and the Trust.
  • It is expected that the individual will work as a clinical expert and role model and provide practice development and leadership in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Physical Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Dexterity and accuracy required to perform clinical procedures associated with Embryo Transfers, Intra Uterine Inseminations or Oocyte Collections

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse/ Registered Midwife -NMC
  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by specialist clinical training / short courses to masters level equivalent or relevant experience or holds an MSc in Advanced Fertility Practice
  • Recognised teaching / mentorship qualification ENB998 C&G 703 or equivalent
  • Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development within the speciality linked to performance of all four core clinical competencies
  • BFS Trans-Vaginal Ultrasound accreditation or other recognised scanning course
  • BFS Embryo transfer accreditation or proven experience.
  • Evidence of independent clinic management
  • Non- medical prescribing qualification
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) trained

  • Oocyte collection
  • ECDL

  • Skills for managing patients admissions and discharges, assessing and advising patients / partners in crisis situations

  • Experience working within the field of Reproductive Medicine
  • Specialist expertise within Reproductive Medicine and experience of developing specialised programmes care providing specialised advice regarding care
