Job overview

This is a NON – CLINICAL role – there is no contact with babies.
Successful candidates will support the clinical staff by assisting in the
provision of the service and contribute to the effective running of the
neonatal unit. They will provide support to the professional staff by
ensuring that the clinical environment is clean, organised and
adequately stocked, that equipment is cleaned effectively and stored
properly.

There will be a maybe a need to undertake reception / clerical duties as required
and to be an effective member of the neonatal team contributing to the
best possible use of resources.

Main duties of the job

The Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital is recruiting staff for
Neonatal Assistant Band 2 positions
This is a NON – CLINICAL role – there is no contact with babies.
Successful candidates will support the clinical staff by assisting in the
provision of the service and contribute to the effective running of the
neonatal unit. They will provide support to the professional staff by
ensuring that the clinical environment is clean, organised and
adequately stocked, that equipment is cleaned effectively and stored
properly.
There will be a need to undertake reception / clerical duties as required
and to be an effective member of the neonatal team contributing to the
best possible use of resources.
You must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate the
ability to work in partnership with parents and the multidisciplinary team.
Shift Pattern: currently covering 08.00 – 20.00 hrs 7 days / week but
may extend to night shifts in the future.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain adequate stock levels in the clinical areas, identifying any shortfalls to the unit manager
  • To ensure that stock is rotated as required
  • To clean clinical equipment in accordance with the Trust Infection Control policy and report any faults or service needs to Electrical Biomedical Engineers or the Unit Manager
  • To maintain adequate levels of clean baby linen and clothes
  • To ensure that all Resuscitaires and procedure trolleys are cleaned and stocked as required
  • To maintain clean and organised storage areas / pharmacy room
  • To ensure the safe disposal of all glass bottles in accordance with the Trust Health and Safety policy
  • To defrost and clean  fridges and freezers as per schedule
  • To assist in maintaining the cleanliness of staff and parent sitting areas
  • To ensure that the parental accommodation is maintained to the agreed standard with the OCS staff and that there is adequate supplies of clean linen available at all times
