Job overview

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (following the merger of the Royal Liverpool, Broadgreen and Aintree University Hospitals) is seeking to appoint   consultant radiologist for a   substantive post with subspecialty interest in primarily Breast imaging  and Gynae imaging.

The post primarily will involve a split between breast imaging and gynaecological/general imaging , delivered across the Trust sites. This role is funded as 10WTE and on call supplement, but part time can be supported.

 

Candidates must have GMC registration, hold FRCR or equivalent, and be eligible for CCT status. They must be able to demonstrate training and competency within breast imaging and intervention, as well as gynae/general imaging.

Main duties of the job

To provide a first-class clinical service in Breast & General Radiology

To supervise junior medical staff in Breast & Diagnostic Radiology

To provide radiological expertise in terms of advice for imaging and reporting.

To take part in the Radiology Audit, Governance, Consultant and Departmental Meetings & continuing professional development. 

To prepare for and lead on discussions in appropriate MDTMs.

To participate on the Diagnostic on call Consultant Radiology rota.

Annual CPR training is expected, along with other mandatory and statutory training.

To provide emergency and acute services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB ChB (or equivalent)
  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise (or eligible for)
  • Eligible for specialist register in Radiology

Clinical and governance experience

Essential criteria
  • CCT in Radiology (or equivalent training) or within 6 months of attaining one at time of interview
  • Subspecialty training in Cross Sectional Radiology
  • Evidence of continuing medical education
  • Understanding NHS management structures and the principles of Clinical Governance
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients

Teaching & training experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines

Management experience

Desirable criteria
  • Willingness to participate in management activities
  • Understanding of financial arrangements in the NHS
  • Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures
