We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated senior research nurse to join the senior leadership team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

As a Research Matron you will oversee a wide range of specialities and studies conducting in-patient, outpatient and healthy participant research within a portfolio at LUHFT.
You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Research to meet delivery targets. You will be supported by other senior R&I managers and matrons.
You will provide day-to-day operational leadership and management for our team of research staff within a portfolio, in the delivery and oversight of their speciality portfolios and their individual teams of Research Nurses, Research Practitioners, Research Assistants and various research support staff.
You will have proven leadership skills and demonstrable experience in line managing staff. You will need excellent project management skills and you must be able to troubleshoot, problem-solve and be creative.
The Trust has 3 sites with 4 hospitals, Aintree, the Royal, Broadgreen and the Dental hospital. The Matron will have responsibility for the Aintree and Royal site, with the flexibility to work across all areas.

The post holder will support, lead, supervise, manage and co-ordinate all Research Nurses/Clinical Support Staff within a Portfolio.
They will provide a high quality, effective, safe, specialist and clinical trials/research service.
We are looking for an individual with excellent leadership qualities, who can motivate and supervise ensuring high standards of patient care throughout the research process.

Experience

- Recent experience as a clinical manager, with responsibility for clinical quality, people management, budget responsibility and successful delivery of performance targets and quality standards within strict financial controls
- Enhanced knowledge of delivering/managing research protocols in accordance to ICH GCP guidelines
Knowledge

- Understanding and experience of MHRA requirements/Inspection. Demonstrates an understanding of legislative framework for managing clinical trials –The Medicine for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulation 2004
- Understanding and appreciation of diversity
- Key issues and pace of change facing the NHS nationally and locally, assess and describe impact on nursing/clinical professional service

- Knowledge and understanding of computerised financial, management, budgetary management and workforce information systems
