We are a major acute teaching Trust offering a wide range of clinical specialties, including tertiary referrals for HIV and Renal Medicine. Pharmacy services are well developed and deliver high quality Medicines Management.
We have a highly regarded Aseptic Production Unit (APU) at the Trust and we moved into our brand new facility in 2023. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual with experience in aseptic services. You will work closely with our Operational Managers to help steer the team at the production unit. You will support & facilitate the production activity of the APU.
Your input will be vital , ensuring that quality is at the centre of everything we do for our patients across the NHS and private healthcare settings.
You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC and have experience of working in Aseptic Services.
Main duties of the job
To facilitate the delivery of a safe and effective aseptic and chemotherapy service, in line with the available resources.
To participate in the delivery and maintenance on a day to day basis, of the dispensing and manufacturing services, in line with resources and service demands.
To work closely with the senior pharmacists and the production manager to develop the aseptic service provision within the Trust in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
To integrate the system for monitoring in conjunction with the Production Manager and Senior Technician Quality Assurance for the Aseptic Unit located on site.
To ensure that aseptic dispensing and manufacturing is carried out in compliance with current legislation (as regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) and standards following the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
To actively seek to further develop the roles through education and training of Technician & ATO staff within aseptic dispensing and manufacturing activities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To delivery on a day to day basis the dispensing and manufacturing services, in line with resources and service demands.
To support the Operational Managers in providing quality medicinal products in a safe and efficient manor.
To line manager and Train staff as per departmental SOPs.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Numerate – able to carry out simple calculations
- Knowledge and application of SOPs and Quality Assurance systems, GMP and GDP
- Knowledge of COSHH
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of clinical trials and hospital aseptic services
- Knowledge of legal requirements associated with the provision of aseptically dispensed and manufactured ‘specials’
Skills

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services, Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
- Attendance APDM and other CPD courses
- A member of the GPhC or the Science Council or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Accredited Technical Checker
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Demonstrable experience as a qualified professional
- Experience of the preparation of aseptic products
- Environmental, Equipment and product monitoring experience
- Evidence of ongoing personal CPD
