Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to gain a professional qualification over a two year training period based at either Aintree Hospital or The Royal Liverpool Hospital. You will also gain experiences at Broadgreen Hospital, our off site distribution store and our Aseptics Department.
You will receive on the job training via an apprenticeship whilst working towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
To be considered you MUST hold at least four GCSEs at grade C (or above) in English Language, Maths, Science and another GCSE.
Functional skills English and Maths Level 2 will be accepted. If you do not have a core Science subject, NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a pharmacy assistant will be accepted as a Science equivalent.
Applicants must be able to start in February 2025. This is a band 4 annex 21 training post (70% at the top of the band 4 pay scale in the first year, progressing to 75% in the second year upon successful completion of the first 12 months).
We will provide the support you need to obtain your professional qualification in which once completed, you will be enabled to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Students must attend an online tutorial from a GPhC accredited teaching provider one day a week.
The role is demanding and requires study both in work and in your own time.
Main duties of the job
To attend day release at an accredited course provider, one day per week for two years and satisfy all requirements as instructed by academic staff including all assignments, assessments and examinations to qualify as a registered pharmacy technician.
To work within a multidisciplinary team including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.
Provide high-quality dispensing for all patients across LUHFT.
Participate in medicines management duties at ward level, such as medicines reconciliation, assessing patients' own medications and ordering medications.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To participate in the preparation and assembly of all pharmaceuticals including extemporaneously prepared products according to the prevailing policies and procedures.
To participate fully in training through rotations within the department and
carry out all duties required within each section to complete BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
