LL Arthroplasty Hip Fellow

NHS Medical & Dental: Senior Clinical Fellow

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertaken established, well regarded Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship.  Internationally renowned as a crucible of Orthopaedics, Liverpool was the home of the pioneers of orthopaedics and trauma surgery, Hugh Owen-Thomas, Robert Jones and Thomas Porter McMurray.  The successful candidate will join a team of Orthopaedic professionals who remain committed to that culture of innovation today.

The department has over 50 Consultant Surgeons covering the full range of Trauma & Orthopaedics, making it one of the largest UK centres. It is a tertiary referral centre for all sub-specialities except spinal services.  It is the Level One Major Trauma Centre for Cheshire, Merseyside and the Isle of Man. All the surgeons are passionate about what they do and keen to develop you and your knowledge.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based at Broadgreen Hospital, our elective site. Day to day work will be varied including outpatient clinics and theatre sessions.  We encourage trainees to operate under supportive supervision to develop their surgical skills. A number of the consultants are deeply involved in educational roles all the way from undergraduate level to registrar level and pride themselves on training the next generation of surgeons.

Working for our organisation

For the 630,000 people across Merseyside, we are their local NHS. We provide general and emergency hospital care, alongside highly specialised regional services for more than two million people in the North West.

Aintree University Hospital is the single receiving site for adult major trauma patients in Cheshire and Merseyside and hosts a number of regional services including an award-winning stroke facility. Broadgreen Hospital is home to elective surgical, diagnostic and treatment services, together with specialist patient rehabilitation. Liverpool Women’s Hospital specialises in the health of women and babies, delivering over 7,200 babies in the UK’s largest single site maternity hospital each year.
