An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the AUH Medicine Financial Management Team within Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The role of the Directorate Accountant is to support and advise Managers and budget holders on all aspects of financial management in the provision of a comprehensive financial management service, meeting internal and external reporting requirements, in an accurate, timely, and relevant manner, enabling managers to provide an efficient and effective service within the resources available. Contributing significantly to the completion of statutory returns such as final accounts.
Support the AUH Medicine Financial Management Team and assist and deputise for the Deputy and Head of Finance for AUH Medicine.
Main duties of the job
To support and advise Directors and other budget holders on all financial management matters in the provision of a comprehensive financial management service, meeting internal and external reporting requirements, in an accurate, timely and relevant manner, enabling managers to provide an efficient and effective service within the resources available. Contributing significantly to the completion of statutory returns such as final accounts, monitoring returns, the eric return and reference costs

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The postholder will support individual directorates in all aspects of decision making.
The post holder is expected to act independently whilst taking decisions and only seeks help on matters of clarification.
Taking the lead in all financial issues and reporting to the Divisional Accountant.
Works to agreed, usually demanding, deadlines and works autonomously in achieving this.
Represents the Divisional Accountant and on occasion the Assistant Director of Finance.
Works within a multidisciplinary team, in an integral part of the senior management team within finance.
Discusses complex financial queries with staff and budget holders.
Discusses financial issues with budget holders which may be contentious, for example, Cash Releasing Efficiency Saving, month end overspends.
Provides advice and interpretation on complex financial issues to non-finance managers.
The post-holder will be expected to develop relationships across the directorates.

- Demonstrable post qualified experience
- In depth experience and knowledge of financial planning.
- In depth experience and knowledge of budgetary strategy and control
- In depth experience and knowledge of NHS Trust Financial regime
- In depth experience and knowledge of Corporate Finance Reporting
- In depth experience and knowledge of Costing
- In depth experience and knowledge of financial support to budget holders
- In depth experience and knowledge of Payment by Results
Desirable criteria
- NHS Financial Management experience
