Healthcare Assistant - Clinical Haematology

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Clinical Haematology Healthcare Assistant (HCA).  In this role, you will provide vital support across both our Ambulatory Day Case Unit and within the Haematology Outpatient Clinics, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.  If you are passionate about patient care, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong interest in clinical haematology, we encourage you to apply.

You will be expected to work within the remit of the Trust band 3 role, working directly under the supervision of the senior nursing team.

Assisting the collection and processing of blood samples for laboratory testing.

Collaborate with the nursing team  and other health care professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

To stock up clinical areas and order as necessary. 

To undertake audits and patient satisfaction surveys on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and record. 

Removal of cannulas. 

Prepare patients for treatments, investigations or procedures including offering support, answering questions appropriate to own knowledge/experience.

General and clinical observations of patients, reporting anything untoward to Registered Nursing Staff, to include:

  • Recording of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate
    Oxygen saturation monitoring
  • Recording of peak flow

Check emergency equipment daily and record, also responsible for daily checks i.e. flushing of taps and recording.

Keep mandatory training up to date and any other training necessary for band 3 post.
