Applications are invited for the position of substantive Consultant in Anaesthesia at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a large university teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre with a stimulating and challenging case-mix.

We expect a contribution to teaching, education and training of both undergraduates and postgraduates. LUHFT is a newly merged organisation and this post is primarily based at the Liverpool University and Broadgreen Hospital site although opportunities to work in all areas will be available to meet your goals and aspirations for career development.

Main duties of the job

LUHFT provides a mixture of elective cancer, benign, orthopaedic, trauma and emergency care. The job description demonstrates an example of the work pattern but this will be discussed in more detail at pre interview meetings and upon successful interview.

Your role is primarily in delivering care for these areas but also to support the trust management in developing the service in the newly merged organisation as we integrate the legacy organisations with re organisation of services for the benefit of the city and wider community in our newly built hospital in the heart of the city.

Working for our organisation

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
