Job overview
A Critical Care reception volunteer main duties are to Greet patients on arrival, give directions and assist patients/relatives to their beds. Assist patients to unpack their belongings if requested.
You can also help catering staff with mealtimes.
Please note we only need volunteers On Wednesday and Thursday between 12pm-8pm.

· Manning the Critical Care reception desk and answering the intercom system
· Liaising with the Critical Care Ward Clerk and Nurse in Charge and ensuring visitors are able to enter the unit
· Ensure visitors are wearing the appropriate PPE and showing them to the relevant bedspace (utilising unit ‘buzzer system’ when needed)
· Escorting family members to ward areas and Robert Owen House

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties
Greeting visitors;
· Manning the Critical Care reception desk and answering the intercom system
· Liaising with the Critical Care Ward Clerk and Nurse in Charge and ensuring visitors are able to enter the unit
· Ensure visitors are wearing the appropriate PPE and showing them to the relevant bedspace (utilising unit ‘buzzer system’ when needed)
· Escorting family members to ward areas and Robert Owen House
Assisting with Patients on The Unit;
· Asking patients if they want a newspaper/ magazine from the shop and obtaining this for them
Assisting with Patient Admin;
· Ligase with the Ward Clerk and put-up new patient lists around the unit; disregarding old patient lists in confidential waste.
· Tidy the volunteer area and ensure this is stocked with all relevant booklets (all of which can be obtained from Critical Care Ward Clerk).

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
