Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.

Job overview
The Alder Hey Children's Hospital Eating Disorder Service (EDYS) are looking for a caring and experienced person to join our team of highly experienced, passionate, and proactive multi-disciplinary specialists.
The role will be responsible for the triage, assessment and treatment for children and young people who are referred to EDYS. This may involve management and coordination of care plans. Liaising with families/carers and multi- professional teams including Paediatricians and the Alder Hey learning disability team as well as other services supporting access to investigations and treatment as required for children and young people with nutritional deficiencies.
You will be supported with your clinical development and supervision from across the team and division.

Main duties of the job
- To communicate to the client and family, knowledge of therapeutic processes, confidentiality and available options involved in their assessment and care plan, to enable them to engage appropriately from a position of informed consent. This will sometimes include communication about highly sensitive material and outcomes.
- Utilising analytical skills, specialist knowledge and experience provide a comprehensive assessment and formulation of the presenting problem taking into account the child’s educational attainment, chronological/ developmental stage, inner world/ emotional wellbeing, the mental health of the child’s parents, the family dynamics and environment, and the broader social context including health and school.
- Liaise with other agencies to coordinate the young persons care.
- Provide individual, couple, family and group interventions as appropriate as part of a client's integrated, therapeutic programme.
- Undertake with supervision/consultation, case management of cases of some severity, risk and complexity, co-ordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and working in partnership with other agencies where appropriate.
- Identify potential signs of mental health disorder/other specialist need and refer to the appropriate professional for assessment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Communication
- To ensure effective liaison and communication is undertaken within the Learning Disability and/or Autism Team.

- To develop and maintain support for children and families where there is a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism.
- To regularly liaise with internal and external MDTs to provide consultation and plan patient care.

- To provide advice, support, and training around learning disability and/or autism to departments and teams across the trust to improve care delivery to children and young people.
- To provide face to face support (were appropriate) to the children, young people and family to ensure access to the trust.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records in line with Trust policies.
- To work in accordance with safeguarding children and young people policies.
- Co-operate and work effectively with other professionals in the multi-disciplinary team and community services to ensure continuity of care.

Education & Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Allied/other health professional registered with NMC or HCPC
- Educated to first Degree level
- Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development
