Practice Educator (Allied Health Professionals)

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.
We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

This is an exciting time to join the Community and Mental Health Division as it continues to grow, the divisional teams work together with the overall aim of improving patient care and experience both in the hospital setting and out in the community.
Following the expansion of the Divisional Education Team, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate Allied Health Professional to join our divisional education team as a Practice Educator.
This role will provide support, supervision and educational support across the division with a focus on supporting the AHP workforce. They will also work closely with the wider Divisional Education Team to develop and deliver a robust education strategy.

Leadership
- Collaborate with the wider division and trust education teams, Matrons and Service Leads to ensure the divisional educational needs are addressed.
- Maintain and sustain the vision and objectives of staff development, education and support until they are firmly embedded into the culture and values of the division.
- Act as clinical expert and role model leading by example best practice and demonstrating professionalism within clinical practice.
- Be familiar with HR policies and procedures as they apply to ensuring staff comply with mandatory training and competence to practice.
- Network and share best practice at local, regional and national level
- Education Training and Development
- Collaborate with divisional Matrons and Service leads to implement local identified education strategies.
- · Facilitate staff orientation, training, education and practice development programmes with equitable access and support for all levels of staff.
- · Promote and actively participate in teaching of all grades and disciplines of staff throughout the division and wider trust.
- · Collaborate with divisional Matrons and Service Leads to facilitate full compliance with mandatory training and appraisals
- Produce an annual report on training, educational achievements made and make recommendations for the future education strategies.
- Liaise with other staff groups to develop and deliver multi professional clinical education.
- Collate accurate education and training records in line with Trust Targets.
- To encourage and foster a culture that supports ‘lessons learned’ from adverse events and to provide relevant education and training to address any education gaps.
